Introduction to outdoor climbing
Step outside and get into outdoor rock climbing! You will learn new skills, discover beautiful climbing spots, and find the joy in outdoor climbing.
During this day, you will learn the fundamentals about outdoor climbing: equipment, safety & communication, hand-foot climbing techniques, understanding guidebooks, and more. You will practice in a group setting on single pitch routes to maximise learning, fun, and safety. This introduction course is perfect to begin your outdoor climbing career.
This event is led by Tim Dunham, climbing instructor.
What’s the plan?
Meet Tim in front of the Schwyz train station at 09:00. Shuttle to Klettergarten Chämiloch. The first half of the day will be dedicated to understanding the equipment, fundamentals of outdoor climbing, and safety rules. During the second half of the day, you will be able to put theory into practice and rock climb. After a long day on the crag, Tim will give you a lift back to the train station.
Requirements
No previous climbing experience is needed. If you have done some bouldering or indoor climbing before, it can only be helpful!
Insurance
It is the participant’s responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).

If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you to take the following:
