Sign up here → 3 June 2023
Learn how to sport climb on real rock and the skills needed to keep you safe. Instruction includes: lead climbing & belaying, rope management, clipping an express, setting & clearing anchors, equipment, and communication. This course will build the confidence and create a great foundation as a lead climber.
Course 3 – Introduction to Outdoor Climbing 3/3 – Alpine Rock Climbing
Göschenertal
Apply your newly acquired skills from courses 1 & 2 at an alpine rock climbing weekend. All your skills come together: lead climbing, belaying and anchor building in a high-altitude setting. Test yourself against the rock and achieve your climbing goals. We will stay overnight in a mountain hut with access to climbing routes right out the front door. It’s a great way to end this climbing course series!
What’s the plan?
Tim will meet the group at the Göschenen train station at 08:50 on Saturday. From there we will take the PostBus up to Dammagletscher and hike to the stunning Bergseehütte (located at 2,370m). There we will refresh what we learned in course 2, enjoy some alpine climbing and acquire more advanced skills.
We stay overnight in the well-known Bergseehütte, where we will enjoy the evening with good conversation, a nice dinner and wine, and stay overnight.
After breakfast on Sunday, we will continue to explore the various climbing areas and practice the skills we learned on Saturday. After a second full day of climbing, we will hike back to Dammagletscher and take the bus back to Göschenen train station.
Requirements
Participation in Course 2/3 – Lead Climbing or previous experience with outdoor lead climbing.
Insurance
It is the participant’s responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
