Guided Weekend Hike by the Matterhorn

Traveling to Zermatt on Saturday morning and coming back on Sunday afternoon, having enough time to sleep in a beautiful mountain hut overlooking Zermatt and facing the Breithorn and other 4000s, and to do one of the most beautiful hikes at the foot of the stunning Matterhorn? This is all possible, so join us for a memorable weekend in Valais!

What’s the plan?

Day 1: Zermatt – Pension Edelweiss

We meet at Zermatt train station at 16:00 on Saturday, which gives you enough time to visit the famous mountain resort and old town during the day. From there, we hike up to the charming Pension Edelweiss, where our hosts, Pip and Rico, welcome us warmly and serve us a nice dinner. Night at Pension Edelweiss.

Day 2: Pension Edelweiss – Zermatt

After an energising breakfast, we hike up to the charming Hotel Trift and walk along the Edelweiss trail, which offers one of the most stunning panoramic views of Zermatt and its 4000s: North face of Matterhorn, Breithorn, Liskamm… We then hike down to the moraine of the Zmutt glacier, before going through the lovely Zmutt village. Return to Zermatt around 15:00.

To join this event, you need to be a fit hiker.

Insurance

It is the participant’s responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
