Guided 2-day / 2-night snowshoeing trip in the Jura with a night in a yurt
Join us in this exciting snowshoeing trip in the gorgeous rolling Jura mountains, with the ascent of the Mont d’Or, typical local cuisine, and a night in a yurt.
This trip is led by Diane McGuinness, international mountain leader.
What’s the plan
Meet your guide in Vallorbe in the evening for a welcome meeting and briefing. Night at Auberge Pour Tous.
Breakfast at the Auberge. After a short transfer by public transport (ca. 20 minutes) we set off for a full day’s snowshoeing in the hills above Vallorbe. As well as the snowshoe hike itself, and learning about local customs and life, we can also do some winter navigation practice if anyone is interested in learning more. Saturday night we will stay in a yurt and dine on local specialities in a traditional auberge.
On Sunday we continue our snowshoeing trip, including the ascent of Mont d’Or for stunning views across the Leman basin towards the Alps. We aim to descend to Vallorbe around 16:00 – 16:30 to facilitate your onward travel.
Please note that the actual distances might vary depending on the snow conditions.
To join this snowshoeing trip, you need to be a fit hiker. No previous snowshoeing experience needed.
It is the participant’s responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
