Climb Mount Toubkal in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco

In collaboration with our partner David Norris, International Mountain Leader, we are organizing a week in Morocco to explore the Atlas Mountains and hike Mount Toubkal.

This is a 6-day mountain expedition with 2 transfer days at either end.

The high Atlas mountains at this time of year are snow-covered and an awesome sight. From your accommodation in Imlil where you stay on your first two nights, you can sit on the terrace and soak up the magnificent scenery while you sip mint tea and enjoy Moroccan hospitality.

The mountain refuge is a very hospitable place. A Moroccan breakfast and a packed lunch are provided at the refuge and the evening meal will be hearty tasty and a very social affair as we will sit on large tables with fellow hikers. The hut guardians take great pride in feeding their hungry visitors who are preparing for there ascent of Mount Toubkal.

What’s the plan?

Day 1

Arrival in Marrakech. Airport transfer to accommodation in Imlil.

Day 2

Day trek in the Imlil area and return to accommodation.
Ascent: approx. 1000m.

Day 3

Trek to refuge Mouflon high in the valley above Imlil. If the weather allows, we will do a short acclimatisation walk practising use of ax and crampons. Return to refuge Mouflon for the night.
Ascent: approx. 1500m

Day 4

A full-day hike with crampons and ax to a peak/col higher than the refuge to allow for acclimatisation. Return to refuge Mouflon for the night.
Ascent: approx. 600m depending on conditions

Day 5 – Summit day (Mount Toubkal)

This will be a full mountain day and we will have an early start so that we give everyone the best opportunity of reaching the summit of Mount Toubkal at 4167m. Return to refuge Mouflon for the night.
Ascent: approx. 1000m

Day 6

The return hike to Imlil. Night in Imlil.

Day 7

Transfer to Marrakech where you can experience the souks and hammams. Night in a comfortable Riad.

Day 8

Transfer to Marrakech airport for your flight

Once registered, please make the payment of the deposit (50% – CHF500) within 7 days via Twint or bank transfer (we will send you our account details). The balance is due by 31 August 2020.
