Guided Moonlight Hike above Lake Walensee & Raclette in the wild

Have you ever been on a hike lit by the moonlight? It’s totally worth it and you should give it a try! And this is not just a moonlight hike. It starts with a boat ride on Walensee, followed by a beautiful hike above the lake and at the foot of the famous Churfirsten, then we stop to enjoy an outdoor raclette and continue the hike all the way to Walenstadt. And you’ll be back in Zurich before midnight!

What’s the plan?

We meet at Murg West to take the boat to Quinten at 17:43. It takes 15 minutes to cross Walensee by boat. Quinten is a beautiful car-free hamlet, only reachable by boat or on foot. After a nice and easy hike along the lake and passing by other charming hamlets, we start our ascent through the forest until we reach a beautiful plateau just below the impressive Churfirsten. This is where, in the open air and after the sunset, we stop and make our raclette to get some cheesy energy. After a nice outdoor dinner, we slowly hike down through the forest again, all the way to Walenstadt. We end up on the East side of Walensee and make our way to the train station through town centre.

How to get there?

If you are traveling by public transport from Zurich, we recommend you to take the following:

• Zurich HB 16:43 – 17:37 Murg (via Ziegelbrücke)
• Walenstadt 22:43 – 23:48 Zurich HB

If you are traveling by car, we recommend you to park at the Park+Ride car park in Walenstadt and to take the train to Murg at 17:13.

Insurance

It is the participant’s responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
