Guided Full Moon Hike above Lake Walensee & Raclette in the wild

Have you experienced a full moon hike? It’s a highly recommended activity that you should definitely attempt. But this isn’t just a typical full moon hike. The adventure begins with a boat ride across Walensee, followed by a breathtaking hike above the lake and at the base of the renowned Churfirsten. We’ll pause to savour an outdoor raclette, and then continue the hike until we reach Walenstadt. With the days getting longer, we’ll have the opportunity to witness daylight, sunset, moonrise, and moonlight all in a span of just a few hours.

What’s the plan?

Our meeting point is Murg West where we will board a boat at 18:43 that will transport us to Quinten. The boat ride across Walensee lasts for about 15 minutes. Quinten is a lovely car-free village that can only be accessed by boat or on foot. We embark on a pleasant walk along the lake, passing through other charming hamlets before beginning our ascent through the forest. We then reach a stunning plateau located just below the majestic Churfirsten, where we stop in the open air to prepare and indulge in some scrumptious raclette. Following our delightful outdoor dinner, we gradually make our way back down through the forest, all the way to Walenstadt. Our hike will end on the East side of Walensee, and from there we will make our way to the train station, through the town centre.

How to get there?

If you are traveling by public transport from Zurich, we recommend you to take the following:

• Zurich HB 17:43 – 18:37 Murg (via Ziegelbrücke)
• Walenstadt 23:46 – 00:48 Zurich HB

If you are traveling by car, you can park at Walenstadt train station and take the train to Murg West at 18:13.

Insurance

It is the participant’s responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
