3-day multi pitch climbing course
You’ve climbed a bit on single pitch routes but you’re seeing all these photos of climbers dangling hundreds of meters off the ground and rappelling off cliffs? Learn all the knots, rope techniques and more in this multi pitch climbing course. With Tim Dunham, certified climbing instructor, you will be able to improve your climbing technique and learn everything you need to start multi pitch routes.
Unlike lead climbing, which involves a single climber ascending one route, multi-pitch climbing involves several climbers traversing multiple routes on the way to their destination. It offers climbers the ability to cover longer distances and traverse more routes.
What’s the plan?
Meet Tim at Sustenpass on Friday morning. After dropping your bags at the hotel, you will make your way to the crag and spend the day lead climbing and improving your climbing technique.
On Saturday, you will learn all the knots and rope techniques for multi-pitch climbing, on the ground, and on an easy 2 to 3-pitch route, to practice as much as possible.
Sunday is the application day! You will get the chance to do, together with a climbing instructor, a long multi-pitch route all day and apply all the skills you will have learned in the previous days.
Requirements
To join this event, you need to be able to climb 5A routes top rope. No previous lead climbing or multi-pitch experience needed.
All pitches will be graded between 3 and 5A.
Insurance
It is the participant’s responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
