Love life and yourself

Meditate to unlock our mind’s amazing potential!

How much do you care for yourself?

Through ups and downs, good and bads, you’ve pulled through everything, all the time. That is undoubtedly the most evident proof of how amazing you and your mind is.

Now, what goes through your mind when I ask you, “Who’d you rather be”? Is it: “Me!”? It should be, instead of falling in the “I’d love to be X, or Y or Z!” trap because there’s no better hero to look up to than your future self

So, take a break, give yourself some love and thanks for who and what you are at this moment. Know that everything can change (you most certainly have in the last few years in a way or another), and as such, you have the power to keep doing so, consciously, towards your betterment.

Acknowledging that our life is ours and that we have the sole responsibility (the ability to respond consciously to everything, close or far, direct or indirect) to live it with a burning desire to experience its beauty, is an essential step in becoming that future self.

With that in mind (knowing that our life is our responsibility), I ask you again in this unique moment: How much do you love yourself?

Sadhguru on what it means to meditate

The moment we utter the word “meditation,” there are all kinds of misconceptions about it. First of all, the English word “meditation” doesn’t mean anything in the sense, if you close your eyes and sit, in English, we call it “meditation.” You can sit with your eyes closed and do many things.

The reason why most people who have tried meditation have come to the conclusion that it’s very difficult or impossible is because they are trying to do it.

You cannot do meditation, but you can become meditative. Meditation is a certain quality. It is not a certain act. If you cultivate your body, your mind, your energies, and your emotions to a certain level of maturity, meditation will naturally happen. It is just like if you keep the soil fertile if you give it the necessary manure and water, and if the right kind of seed is there, it will grow and bloom into flowers and fruits.

Flowers and fruits will come out of a plant not because you want it, but simply because you created the necessary, conducive atmosphere. Similarly, if you create the necessary atmosphere within yourself, on all the four dimensions of who you are, then meditation will naturally flower within you. It is a certain fragrance that one can enjoy within himself.

So just start by observing yourself, see how many unnecessary movements your body makes when you stand, sit, or speak.

If you keep the body still, the mind will slowly start collapsing, and the mind knows that it will become enslaved if it allows this. The main aspect of meditation is, right now, your mind is the boss, and you are the slave. As you meditate and become more meditative, you will become the boss, and your mind will become the slave, and that is how it should always be.

If you don’t know how to keep the mind as a slave, it will put you through all kinds of endless suffering. If you allow the mind to rule, it is a terrible master. But as a slave, the mind is wonderful – it is a miraculous slave.

Tools to help meditate for our physical and mental betterment

Meditate for your betterment

The most important tool is consistency, like with everything that you want to see long-lasting positive impacts/transformations in your life!

Don’t get stuck with the obsessive idea to meditate for a prolonged time. Start with even 1 minute a day, and learn to love that every time you do it.

Use one of the following tools and a program of theirs to help you meditate with their guided sessions, which will help stay focused and harness that meditative state. They all usually offer a 21 or 30-day meditation program, which will help build that consistency and momentum towards a meditation practice that you look forward to every day.

Over time you’ll create your own practice with intentions that best aligns with your state.

  • Practice joy and gratitude. Love the present moment for being alive, your willingness to treat yourself at the highest standards, the trees that give us the oxygen to breathe, the sun shining every day. Be grateful for anything and everything in your life.
  • Take a deep and slow breath, before and during eating, your next meeting, a stressful call, or any sort of activity in general.
  • Relax back and just do nothing, besides observing your thoughts. With this should come the conscious realization that it’s OK to do nothing for some time. Stop and do not feel guilty about it! Your mind and body are always active. You get up, get ready, go to work, come back home, exercise, cook, eat, clean, go to bed. We all tend to get so busy that when we get some free time, it’s easier to indulge in easy and passive activities like watching TV or taking a nap, but we rarely sit down to just observe our thoughts.
  • Mindful eating. In this generation, eating, too, became part of the ‘rush.’ You take a 30-minute lunch break, run to the first place around the corner, grab some processed food, and quickly swallow it like a pill while talking to colleagues. Take time to read the ingredients, be grateful for having easy access to them, savor all the distinctive flavors, and not rush to eat it all at once.
  • Rest your attention to your environment. Enjoy the distinctive beauty that surrounds you, and observe all the tiny details that you’d otherwise miss or skip.
  • Care, clean, and protect what surrounds you. If you see a piece of trash, take it with you and place it in the next bin you find.

You might feel like losing time in any of those small things, but don’t they all contribute in their own way to our own and everybody else’s betterment?

These small pauses are ‘quick vacations’ – quick breaks that will give you more focus, make you a better decision-maker, help in dealing with the people around you, and effectively manage stressful situations. These results will, eventually, let you have more time in your hands, earn more money, build strong relationships, and live a fulfilling life.

This is just the start!

Consider that the key to “supernatural abilities,” a tool for imagining and embodying our future self, declutter our mind, let our body heal, and live off an elevated emotional state (love, joy, worthiness, etc.) is to meditate. How much time is it worth spending meditating?
