snowshoeing trip

What’s the plan

Friday

Meet your guide in Vallorbe in the evening for a welcome meeting and briefing. Night at Auberge Pour Tous.

Saturday

Breakfast at the Auberge. After a short transfer by public transport (ca. 20 minutes) we set off for a full day’s snowshoeing in the hills above Vallorbe.  As well as the snowshoe hike itself, and learning about local customs and life, we can also do some winter navigation practice if anyone is interested in learning more. Saturday night we will stay in a yurt and dine on local specialities in a traditional auberge.

Sunday

On Sunday we continue our snowshoeing trip, including the ascent of Mont d’Or for stunning views across the Leman basin towards the Alps. We aim to descend to Vallorbe around 16:00 – 16:30 to facilitate your onward travel.

Technical information

Saturday

Distance: 15km
Ascent: 850m
Descent: 300m

Sunday

  1. Hello!

Do we need to have avalanche training before this? How about avalanche equipment? I have snowshoes before and have experience, but always on extremely low risk trails – so I do not have any avalanche equipment or training. If this is not required, I would love to join!

    1. Hi Lavinia,
Thanks for your request. No avalanche training or equipment is required for that weekend.
Feel free to sign up! 🙂
      Have a nice evening,
      Celine
