Introduction to outdoor rock climbing weekend 2/2 – Lead climbing

Step outside and learn outdoor rock climbing to have a wonderful summer season!

You will learn new skills, discover beautiful climbing spots, and find the joy in outdoor climbing. These courses are aimed at you becoming a more confident climber.

This trip is led by Tim Dunham, climbing instructor.

Learn how to sport climb on real rock and the skills needed to keep you safe. Instruction includes: lead climbing & belaying, rope management, clipping an express, setting & clearing anchors, equipment, and communication. This course will create a great foundation for your confidence as a climber & future climbing trips.

What’s the plan?

Tim will meet the group in front of the Grindelwald, Gletscherschlucht bus stop at 10:30. After reaching the crag, we will refresh the skills learned in course 1 and learn the fundamentals of lead climbing.

At the end of the day, we will settle into a lovely hostel in Grindelwald. We will enjoy a nice dinner in town and stay overnight at the hostel.

On Sunday after breakfast, we will return to explore the same area and practice the skills we learned on Saturday and sport climb! After a second full day of climbing, you will be able to rest on the bus and train on your way home!

Requirements

Participation in our introduction to outdoor rock climbing weekend – Top rope climbing on 30 April & 1 May 2022 , or previous experience with indoor lead climbing or outdoor top rope climbing.

Insurance

It is the participant’s responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).

If you are traveling by car, there is a car park at Grindelwald, Gletscherschlucht and near the hotel (please let us know so we can prebook it).

The price for this event is CHF 420.

If you have participated to the top rope course on 30 April & 1 May 2022, you get a package discount of CHF 40 to be redeemed on this course.
