Home Tours - Touring Monkeys Bushcraft Into the wild weekend: Bushcraft & Foraging

Date

21 - 22 May 2022
Expired!

Learn wilderness bushcraft skills during 2 days in nature with Luca Durante, a specialist in archaeology, indigenous communities and their traditional way of life, and Nina Fischer, a herbalist specialised in edible wild plants.

At the end of that weekend, you will have learned two techniques to start a fire without matches, you will be able to identify, prepare and eat a variety of wild plants, you will bring self-made items back home (wooden spoon, basket, rope) and you will have created wonderful memories for life!

Into the wild weekend: Bushcraft & Foraging 1

What’s the plan?

We meet at a given location on Saturday morning (accessible by public transport), and walk to the camp. The walk to the camp introduces us to the environment in which we will spend these 2 days. For the rest of the weekend, we will split the group and dedicate our time to the preparation of our camp, the fire-making process to keep warm and cook our meals, and the food gathering.

You will learn two primitive fire-making techniques: flint and steel, and bow-drill.

Nina will introduce you to the local plants and together you will forage the food needed for our meals. Once enough edible plants have been gathered, you will head back to the camp and prepare the meals on the campfire.

While some gather the food, others will be introduced to the following bushcraft activities:

-Wood carving
-Basket weaving
-Rope making

We will then swap the groups so that everyone gets to try all activities.

How to get there

We will confirm the location at a later stage. It will be accessible by public transport.
